d’ART

A jigsaw puzzle on an iPhone? Check. A well made jigsaw puzzle game for the iPhone? Check again. Somehow d' ART combines interesting paintings/drawings with a fantastic interface to make a great jigsaw puzzle game for your iPhone despite the devices lacking screen real estate. In fact, the interface works so well that it almost makes the jigsaw puzzles too easy to solve...

Apple and iPhone 4 Rambles and Rumbles

By |2010-08-18T10:06:13-05:00August 18, 2010|Features|

I’m still waiting on my free iPhone 4 case. I’m sure it will come soon. I know that Apple had to ramp up production (eye roll) but man it’s been nearly 6 weeks. One thing that I hate is that I have already scratched up my scratch resistant iPhone 4 screen. Argh!email me at cpsharp [at] iphonegamerblog.co

NinJump

By |2011-07-10T23:04:33-05:00August 16, 2010|iPhone Reviews|

NinJump is the newest creation out of prolific developer, Backflip Studios. In another nod to freemium gaming, you’ll find the ad-supported NinJump on the App Store for the very low price of free. You do have the option of removing the ads for a buck but the iAds are fairly unobtrusive and playing with them should not cause you any issues. This game makes Ninjatown: Trees of Doom seem slow and outdated…and I really like it...

Nesen Probe

By |2011-07-10T23:04:50-05:00August 12, 2010|iPhone Reviews|

If there was an award at iPhone Gamer Blog for weirdest game ever, Nesen Probe, would win. That being said, weird doesn’t necessarily mean good. In this game, you take on the role of a flying spaceship nose (oh you expected something not quite that weird?) that goes around trying to suck in flying circles of green and purple (and a health kit from time to time). The real danger lays in accidentally sucking up one of the encroaching gray circles which take away points and life...

Soccer Rally

By |2011-07-10T23:04:55-05:00August 12, 2010|iPhone Reviews|

It’s not that Soccer Rally is bad, just that it’s not very special. I mean, basically what it boils down to is a pong-type game clone with you controlling a goalie instead of a bar. Instead of a pong ball, you have a soccer ball. There are a few things I’ll discuss below that make it as bit more interesting than old school pong but all in all, and I won’t beat around the bush – you probably won’t like this game very much...

Rocket Boy 2D

By |2011-07-10T23:05:02-05:00August 12, 2010|iPhone Reviews|

2D platformer’s have made a comeback on the iPhone and iPod Touch platform in recent years. That is in part due to the iPhone's lack of physical buttons and small screen size. That being said, I don't see it as a negative. Especially when they are made as well as Rocketboy 2D. This game, created by indie dev, PowPowGames, really came out of nowhere and once again proves that an indie developer with a few resources and a talented team can make a really solid game...

Madden NFL 11

By |2011-07-10T23:05:07-05:00August 11, 2010|iPhone Reviews|

Perhaps no series in game history has done as much two step forward, one step back taking as the Madden football series that is released every year for nearly every system. Madden NFL 11 makes the second Madden series appearance on the iPhone and I extremely pleased to say that it does not take any steps back; instead is drives itself forward for a first down. A blend of updated graphics, dynamic ai, and realistic game play really make this a must buy for those mobile football gaming fans. It also puts to shame Gameloft’s latest attempt at a rival mobile franchise, NFL 2011...
