Doodle God

Doodle God manages to be unique, mesmerizing and wonderful. It takes such a simple concept and expands upon it until it really is a must buy game. What makes Doodle God so good? It’s certainly not the Doodle moniker which really has nothing at all to do with any other Doodle-type game you have played in the past. It’s certainly not that it is yet another puzzle game in the vast array already available on the App Store. It really boils down to how it makes you feel when you play and that feeling is worth chasing...

The key to any great strategy game is that once it hooks you, a new challenge begins: the battle to stop playing! Who hasn’t strategically kept a Word document a mouse-click away to hide a tense round of Tetris when the boss walks by? Or couldn’t stop seeing Minesweeper flags surround the characters of The Hurt Locker? And admit it, the only reason you stay in touch so well with grandma is to own her ass in online Mahjong! Just me…?

I’m going to be honest with you. I don’t really get this game. I’ve been playing it for over an hour nonstop and I just don’t get it. The object of the game, I think, is to organize candy in specific patterns. Symmetry plays a role as well but I’m not sure how. Do I organize the candy by type and try to keep the board symmetrical or do I mix and match the candy to come up with elaborate patterns?

I’m not sure I've ever seen an iPhone/iPod Touch game like Mr. Kubus before and if I have then it obviously didn’t leave an impact. This 2D left to right scroller is a mix between a puzzler and a strategy game. The object of the game is to reach the finish line with as many red hearts as possible. As you move through the level you can gather hearts, and also lose them by running into obstacles...

The Package

The Package is an ingenious puzzle game. It really is. Puzzle games are one of the most commonly represented games of all genres on the App Store. That's why unfortunately is so hard for new developers with good games to break through. I'm hoping that is not the case for the developers of The Package, a game where your job is to deliver a package using nothing more than MacGyver like widgets and tools...

Spinzizzle is an interesting name for a common genre type for the iPhone, the match 3. You know the ones; you have balls or objects of different colors and you need to match 3 of them together in order to move onto the next stage where you do the same thing over and over again. Personally, I'm just not much into this kind of gameplay. I like casual gaming experiences but I like a bit more action in my diet...
